The Store
Three decades on Highway 438.
Since 1996, Big's Place has been a fixture of Franklinton — older than most of its customers' kids. Run by the Knight family, it's the kind of country store that's equal parts neighborhood grocery, package & tobacco stop, and a hot-lunch deli counter where the plate of the day comes with sweet tea.
It's a real Washington Parish institution: a couple thousand neighbors follow along for the daily lunch special, and hundreds more have made it a stop on Highway 438. Groceries, cold drinks, beer & wine to go, firewood, live bait, and a little hardware aisle for whatever needs fixing — it's all under one roof.
